Shelbyville, IL. (ECWd) –
We attended the Shelby County Airport Board Meeting yesterday, Sep 14, 2020.
The main topics we brought up were the following:
- Which county airport statute is this airport governed under? There are three possible answers, each with their own powers and responsibilities, they are: 1) County Airport and Landing Field Act [620 ILCS 40], 2) County Airport Law of 1943 [620 ILCS 45], and, 3) County Airports Act [620 ILCS 50]
- What does “deadbeat hangars” mean? The board talked about this, even mentioned sending the leaseholders a letter, but also stated all rent was paid up to date
- Why are none of the airplane hangar/t-hangar leaseholders paying real estate taxes as required under state law?
- Receipt of and answering requests for public records
