KRMA has attorney respond with name of FOIA Officer

BY JOHN KRAFT & KIRK ALLEN

ON August 17, 2018

Kankakee, IL. (ECWd) -

I just wanted to throw this out there for those wondering why their tax bills, water bills, and sewerage bills are so high.

I submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to the Kankakee River Metropolitan Agency for "A copy of the name of their FOIA Officer."

Instead of responding with "Our FOIA Officer is Larry Ohm" like a normal person who treated "other people's money" like it were his own, the KRMA forwarded the FOIA request to its attorney, and their attorney responded with "Our FOIA Officer is Larry Ohm."

Just had to put this out there...

Thanks & my guess is the lawyer isn’t working doing this for nothing – my experience is they charge phone call, e-mail, etc. It’s been my observation that once the “public entity or those in power positions of those public agencies view you as a threat – they will waste money going to the lawyer for something a clerk could do.” Why these people, once they get into positions of authority or power, seem to lose common sense – I haven’t figured out.

I’d make a joke but it seems redundant!
