GovPlates.com: Shiloh School District Van used to pay bills, do shopping?

BY JOHN KRAFT & KIRK ALLEN

ON April 6, 2018

HUME, IL. (ECWd) -

On Decenber 14, 2017, at approximately 10:40 a.m., I observed the Shiloh School District's van being used for apparent personal business, and I notified the Superintendent of what I saw, and was told it would be looked at.

I observed this van at the trash collection company's office, at the second hand store across from the Paris Post Office, and at the Credit Union.

Now today, at approximately 10:30 a.m., I observed this van at the Verizon Store in Paris.

I have left a message with the Shiloh Superintendent's Office, but have not received a call back yet.

It will be interesting to find out if any public business was being conducted with the driver of this van and the locations it stops at.

Maybe the driver was paying the school's trash bill in person, shopping for used items for the classroom, and paying the school's cell phone bill in person. Who knows...

I don’t have a big problem with this if the trips coincided with school business.

Employees don’t make that much and a little perk of stopping and taking care of some personal business along the route doesn’t put anybody out.

Most school employees put in a lot of uncompensated hours. Nobody gets their pnties in a wad over that.

We can always hope they had a valid reason. I can understand how they might want to go to a “school supply store”, however most times those types of places deliver to the school.
