Lisle-Woodridge Fire District pays severance to finance department staff -

BY JOHN KRAFT & KIRK ALLEN

ON April 13, 2016

Lisle-Woodridge Fire District , IL. (ECWd) -

Less than a day after we published this article (http://wp.me/p1RGXs-7Jd)  blasting the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District for not providing public records and their attempt at claiming the requested records were "preliminary drafts", even after approved by the board, the FOIA Officer provided a copy of the severance agreement requested. (below)

The LWFD made a decision to contract its finance department function out instead of maintaining employee(s). In that process, they also decided to pay severance, which also included pay for unused vacation/sick days. Additionally, pursuant to Section 2(e) of the Open Meetings Act, some of this information should have been disclosed to the public prior to the board voting to approve it.

  • Barbara Beshears will receive an amount equal to around $65,000.00

Any idea on how long she was employed by the district? I did not see that information if it is in the document. In my opinion how long she worked for the district is a determining factor on how much the severance package should be. If she worked their 15-20 years, this is probably a fair deal. However, if she was only there a year or two this severance package is outrageous.
