CLARK CO. (ECWd) -
During the July 23, 2014 budget meeting of the Clark County Park District, there was a surprising new method used to to come up with a balanced budget for the upcoming year.
It's called "figure out how much you want to spend, then say that's what the income will be" and it will come true, kind of like the movie line "If you build it, they will come".
Actual quote from Park Commissioner: "After not having enough money, we went back and added money [on paper]... to get the income to look a little better, to get it to have a break even budget."
I noticed there was no way to account for this "added income" other than just saying it is so.
This leaves me wondering how they expect to operate next year, clearly knowing this is not a truthful representation of a budget.
