IL. Sup Court Suspends Law License Of Edgar County Assistant State’s Attorney –

Springfield, Ill. (ECWd) –

On September 19, 2025, the Illinois Supreme Court suspended the law license of Lauren B. McQueen, Assistant State’s Attorney for Edgar County.

Ms. McQueen, who was licensed in 2019, was suspended for one year and until further order of the Court, with the suspension stayed after 60 days by a two-year period of conditional probation. She used $8,912.71 in funds belonging to the Champaign County Bar Association without authorization while serving as treasurer and then president of that organization. She also made false statements to CCBA officials when questioned about the funds. The suspension is effective on October 10, 2025.

Some of the conditions of her probation:

  • Respondent shall reimburse the Commission for the costs of this proceeding as defined in Supreme Court Rule 773 and shall reimburse the Commission for any further costs incurred during the period of probation
  • Respondent shall, as required by the Administrator, submit to random substance testing by a qualified health professional or facility approved by the Administrator within eight (8) hours of receiving notice by the Administrator that she shall submit to the testing. The results of the tests shall be reported to the Administrator. Respondent shall pay any and all costs of such testing
  • Respondent shall continue in her course of psychotherapy with her current provider, or such other qualified mental health professional acceptable to the Administrator, and shall report to her current provider, or such other qualified mental health professional, not less than once per month for at least one (1) year, with the Administrator advised of any change in attendance deemed warranted by such professional
  • Respondent shall report to the Administrator any lapse in her sobriety or usage of any unprescribed controlled substances within seventy-two (72) hours of that usage
  • Respondent shall abstain from the usage of alcohol and any unprescribed controlled substances
