OAKLAND, IL (ECWd) –
Last week, the Oakland Fire Protection District held a special meeting to appoint three new trustees, to replace the three trustees who resigned earlier.
Having no statutory authority to ask the circuit court to make those appointments, the resigned trustees “un-resigned” long enough to appoint replacements and then “re-resigned” as trustees one at a time.
Not the ideal way for it to happen, but at least it happened.
All three trustees will be up for election in the spring of 2023.
Another meeting is scheduled for tonight, October 17, 2022, at 5:00 p.m.
