AG: Will County Officers Electoral Board Violated The Open Meetings Act –

By John Kraft & Kirk Allen

On October 15, 2020

Joliet, IL. (ECWd) –

The Attorney General’s Public Access Counselor has determined that the Will County Officers Electoral Board violated the Open Meetings Act during its June 9, 2020, meeting by voting on items not on the Agenda for action.

The item voted on, but not on the Agenda was the adoption of procedural rules – which we objected to this during the meeting but the vote happened anyway.

Since the Board decided on new dates for the meeting, and started the process over, there was nothing they could do to remedy the violation.

  1. There has to be exponentially higher damages awarded to whomever files the OMA grievance with the AG PAC for the government to clean up its act.

Since usually that amount is zero, set the amount at $1,00o or $5,000.

It takes time and knowledge to flag the violations, and as this blog has proven for years the problem is widespread at all levels of fever bent for years.

  2. This board lied to the attorney general…I saw the photos, they never posted the agenda on the building. The electoral board that handles your election results thought nothing of lying to the attorney general. That gives me comfort when I vote.

  3. John and Kirk who is this crazy lady Bonnie? What in the whole world is she is thinking?

  4. One thing the board could do, would involve thanking the ECWd’s for attending thier meeting and for informing them of the concern at that time. A press release containing apology for having violated the OMA would make for an even better board membership.

    1. You should watch the video. They didn’t have a clue but they wanted to decide who stayed on a ballot.
