AG Investigating COD Open Meetings violations -

BY JOHN KRAFT & KIRK ALLEN

ON October 17, 2014

College of DuPage (ECWd) -

Here's another one Chairman Erin Birt, College of DuPage, is responsible for:

The Illinois Attorney General's Public Access Counselor (PAC) has determined that my allegations of Open Meetings Act violations on September 25, 2014 warrant further inquiry.

If you remember, this is the meeting where the board, under the direction of rogue trustee Chairman Erin Birt, decided it was a good idea to violate COD's own Policy (because those only apply to "other" people), and to violate the Open Meetings Act by voting on, approving, and implementing a new policy for public comment - all towards the beginning of the meeting.

For the text of the complaint I sent to the PAC, read this article (here).

The PAC is asking COD to produce the meeting notice, agenda, and minutes, a copy of the new public speaking policy, to address whether the chair interrupted public speakers, and to address whether board members engaged in discussion during the meeting that was inaudible to the public.
